Jeff Abell - Owner

Jeff created his business Abell Custom Marine in 1983 and has been creating major waves in the marine repair world ever since. With over 40 years of experience you know your getting quality, care and attention to detail when you have work done by Abell Custom Marine. Together Jeff and his son Brad purchased Casa Rio Marina in September of 2025, fulfilling life long dreams for both of them. Now the proud owner of Abell Custom Marine at Casa Rio Marina.

Brad Abell - Owner & Lead Mechanic

Brad son of Jeff has been with Abell Custom Marine for over 21 years. Ever since he was old enough for the school bus to drop him off at the marina his dad was working at, he's been turning wrenches and fixing boats. He has over 21 years of marine repair and maintenance experience. Although he's very skilled at all aspects of the job he favors fiberglass repair and 12v troubleshooting. Together with his father, Brad purchased Casa Rio Marina now known as Abell Custom Marine at Casa Rio Marina thus fulfilling a life long dream.

Ellen Rich - Office Assistant

Ellen has been with the Abell Custom Marine team since 2020. With over 35 years of customer service and office handling experience she provides great value to the team. Ellen prides herself in providing great customer service and always greeting everyone with a smile. When she's not at the marina you can be sure to find her spending quality family time with her husband and 3 kids.


Nancy Bray Booth - Office Assistant

Nancy has been with Casa Rio Marina since 2019. She is trained and experienced in marina operations on many levels. She prides herself on providing the best customer service, and expects the knowledgeable staff to do the same. Nancy currently owns a 20' Mako, and has enjoyed cruising the Chesapeake Bay for many years. Nancy lives with her husband in Davidsonville on the South River.

Judy Hollerbach - Office Assistant

Judy has been working at Casa Rio Marina since 2019 and in marina offices for 20 years. She is committed to making the customer’s experience smooth and painless. She is extremely helpful in all aspects of scheduling service and ordering parts. Judy lives locally with her husband, and they have enjoyed the Bay.

Bill Finlay - Mechanic

Bill has been with the Abell Custom Marine since 2015. With over 44 years of experience in marine repair and maintenance, he specializes in engine work and diagnostics. He takes pride in helping boaters get back on the water and keeping every vessel running smoothly. When he's not working on boats you can find him riding his motorcycle with his wife and spending time with his many grandchildren.

Mechanics

Chuck Holm & Eddie Kuchta

Chuck has been a mechanic for many years, and is an expert on engines and boat systems. Chuck is a long-time resident of Edgewater and enjoys taking his family our for rides in his custom powerboat. Chuck’s knowledge, experience, and commitment to producing the finest engine repair work is unsurpassable.

Eddie has been employed by boat yards for over 30 years. He is well-rounded in all varieties of boat repair, and prides himself on being thorough. He is committed to providing customers with repairs that are dependable. He lives on the Magothy River and enjoys his powerboat.
Equipment Operator

Tony Serrano

Tony has been hauling boats for 13 years at Casa Rio Marina. He is diligent in making sure they are hauled and blocked properly. Tony is well versed in preparing boat bottoms, and works hard every spring to make sure the boats are prepared for the summer.

Miguel Marroquin

Miguel has been working in the marine industry for several years. He has an incredible eye for detail, with a wide skill range; including fiberglass and thru-hulls repairs to bottom painting. He is currently restoring a 1984 center console. Recently his son, Abe joined the Casa Rio crew and is following in his father's footsteps.

Chief Happiness Officer (CHO)

Chuckie Holm

Chuckie, the son of Chuck Holm, has been a life-long boater and is very knowledgeable about Tohatsu outboards. Chuckie started to learn from a young age about Tohatsu outboards from his father and he's still learning about them today. He is also a huge help in the marina office, spreading happiness to the Casa Rio crew and customers.
